Getting Started Building a Team

Putting on the Youth Summit, no matter which format you choose, will take a team effort. Here are the 3 teams that work together to launch the Youth Summit and the steps they need to take to start the Youth Summit.

Team 1: (Internationally Only) Steering Committee –
Launch the Initiative

GLS Premiere steering committee, your job is to:

  • Cast the vision
  • Pray for guidance, wisdom and confirmation
  • Select a Target Audience and one of the 3 Summit Formats
  • Select a Youth Coach
  • Register your event here
  • Connect the Youth Coach to our Youth Summit Team by registering your event
  • Mentor them, release them, and get out of the way

Who is the Summit Youth Coach?

The Summit Youth Coach selects and coaches the Summit Youth Team, interfaces with the GLS Premiere team leaders for guidance, and engages all of their youth connections. The Summit Youth Coach will also connect with the Youth Summit USA team leader for questions and support.

Gifts/Abilities

  • Connecting with youth and youth leaders (if event is bigger than one church)
  • Rallying youth leaders from across many groups and denominations to take part of Summit Youth event (if event is bigger than one church)
  • Experience leading organizations and team-building
  • Administration
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Delegation and follow-up
  • Clear communication
  • Detail oriented
  • Accessible

Essential Tasks

  • Establish and maintain communication with the GLS Premiere team, communicate needs and any items that need their attention
  • Coach Youth Team and help them with:
    • Budget (if any), breakouts, registration, resources, refreshments, signage, timelines, etc.
    • Areas of programming, music, scheduling, set up and technical specifications
    • Developing marketing plan
  • Coach Youth Team Facilitators to figure out what process tools are needed for each teaching, how to contextualize the tools, and how to make the conversation more of a coffee house environment than a classroom environment
  • Debrief with Youth team within two weeks after the event

Team 2: Youth Summit Coach – Build the Team

  • Connect with the USA Youth Summit team leader and if international your local GLS Premiere team leader also.
  • Select a Youth Summit team
  • Coach the team to success

GLS Premiere steering committee, your job is to:

Here are some team roles that would be helpful to organize around:

Event Manager

The Youth Summit Event Manager provides a distraction-free environment outside of the auditorium for young leaders to experience the Youth Summit event.

Producer

The Youth Summit Producer leads the youth programming team inside the auditorium to create an environment and program that invites young leaders into a life-changing experience.

Technical Coordinator

The Youth Summit Technical Coordinator oversees and executes for all of the technical production elements.

Marketing Coordinator

The Youth Summit Marketing Coordinator develops, directs and implements the marketing strategy for the Summit Youth event.

Facilitator

The Youth Summit Facilitator(s) leads discussions with the participants to identify and apply the teaching of The Youth Summit event.

Team 3: Youth Summit Team – Plan the Event

Youth Summit team, your job is to:

  • Own the Youth Summit event and commit to key roles on the team
  • Download the Youth Summit app to get the tools you need
  • Invite others to come – develop and implement a clear marketing plan
  • Connect with your Youth Summit Coach to make sure the event is the best it can be
  • Pray for God to show up and do something great!
